All About Jade Sisk Art
I am Jade Sisk, and I am rediscovering my approaches to painting in oils and acrylics as well as drawing with charcoal, graphite polymer clay. I have added creating pet and child portraits to capture that moment in time of a loved one for many generations. For my original art, I have added collecting, recycling, found, discarded, and bought items to create mixed media. Finding a new life for these once presumed treasured items, I give them the story they could or should have had; in the journey I discover what these items bring out in my psyche. In the process of exploring thrift stores, consignment shops and yard sales I discover objects that visually convey an idea. I use these objects to recapture their glory. I arrange the repurposed found objects to create new forms and stories. I use the object reinvention and the medium to find my own ideas, past and future growth. I create a new mythos. Everyone has a personalized journey, yet we all share universal stories.
In 2015, my world halted. My brother died suddenly at the age of forty-five, throwing once strong held beliefs out the door. Life became about introspection. I always used art as a coping mechanism, a visual creation of deep held emotions. Now I began to explore new artists and methods and found a deep curiosity to question the traditional western concepts of women as creators, warriors, and matriarchs. A question of our place in society, what does family mean, how are we someone’s discarded trash and how do we cope are questions that propel me into looking to the future in art
